Info/FAQs

Cost and billing:

Class 1 is £7 a week.

Class 2, 3 and 4 are all £9 a week.

You can book a trial class and pay for one week through our website. If you enjoy the class and decide you would like to join us you will then be sent an invoice for the remainder of the term. We follow the school terms and you will be sent an invoice each half term which will typically be 6-8 weeks long. Fees must be paid before the new term starts or you could lose your place.

Uniforms and extra costs:

We believe in keeping costs down for parents so there are no joining fees (other than the weekly class fee) and no uniforms. Music will be provided.

What to bring/wear:

Wear whatever you are comfortable in, preferably flat shoes/trainers/sandals (they're better for breathing and posture). Please bring a water bottle, and a file to keep your music and lyric sheets.

Homework!?!:

Sometimes there will be homework, not boring homework, just singing through songs to help the lyrics and melody sink in. Helpful tracks may be emailed to parents sometimes for the children to listen and singalong to. We might also set little tasks, like a breathing exercise that can be done whilst watching the telly, or voice warm up to practise in the bath/shower.

Location and travel:

The Pump House Project is located on Swan Lane, Faringdon, Oxfordshire, SN7 7AF. If you know Faringdon you'll know parking can be hit and miss so if driving please bear this in mind. You can usually find free parking on neighbouring streets (please check parking restrictions on each road) or Southampton Street car park is a short walk and is free for the first 2hrs (with ticket). The S6 bus travels to Market Place, Faringdon and this is very near.

Cancellation:

If you would like to cancel your trial please contact us with more than 48hrs notice and we will refund the lesson fee. We will not refund when less than 48hrs notice is given.

Cancellation of membership needs to be given a week before the new term commences. If you choose to leave during the term the remaining fees will not be refunded. Please return any sheet music to us when you leave so it can be given to new students- let's save the trees where we can!

Parents watching the class:

Children usually settle and concentrate better when their parents aren't in the room so we prefer parents not to sit in on the class. You can either drop them off and collect at the end or wait in the building while the class is on.

Our class is in the big hall where there is a stage- children aren't allowed on the stage so we sing on the main floor, but parents can sit on the stage with the curtain drawn (they need to keep quiet though please!) or in the kitchen (this has a big open hatch so again you'll need to keep the chatting to a minimum). Children aren't allowed in either of these spaces so please avoid bring siblings if possible. If you do need to bring other children with you there is a small porch-type space where children are allowed to wait so use this please. There are chairs that can be used. Please keep these spaces clean and tidy.

Performances:

We invite families in at the end of each term for the last few minutes of class to see/hear what we have been working on. Sometime this will be a mini-performance and other times it will have more of a workshop feel for parents to see how we do things. We will try to partner up with local events from time to time to provide children extra opportunities to perform and build their confidence- we also love a Christmas singsong so we will work towards a festive performance as the Winter draws in.

Behaviour:

We encourage the development of confidence and strong personalities at Sing! Faringdon but sometimes things can go too far and behaviour can become disruptive. Violence and abuse will not be tolerated and parents may be asked to take their child home if their behaviour is inappropriate or they are disrupting the learning of others in the class. Serious or repeat behaviour issues may lead to parents being asked not to bring their child in the future. We reserve the right to terminate a child's membership where the safety and wellbeing of staff and other students is at risk, or if the class is unable to run effectively due to a child's disruptive behaviour.

Social Media, Photography, Filming and Recording:

Parents and students are not permitted to film, record or take photos in class without prior consent from Sing! Faringdon. In the event that you are given consent to film/record/take photos by Sing! Faringdon please do not share online or through social media footage that shows any child other than your own.

From time to time Sing! Faringdon may record footage/audio for the purpose of  sharing with parents to help with home practise. Any footage/audio that is shared must not be shared with people outside of the Sing! Faringdon class.

Sing! Faringdon may occasionally record or take photos in class for their website or social media. Parents are given the opportunity to opt in or out of having their child's image shared online and can change their mind at any time by contacting Sing! Faringdon.
